UV Rated Everyday Florals: Curate Designs a Greenhouse for The Galatyn

Every room at The Galatyn seems designed with light in mind, but nowhere is that more literal than inside its glass greenhouse, a room with no interest in filtering the Texas sun, only in living alongside it. Real florals surrender to that kind of exposure. Ordinary faux ones fare little better. What that room needed were UV rated everyday florals, convincing enough, and resilient enough, to hold their color and shape under daylight that behaves less like sunshine and more like a spotlight, which is exactly why The Galatyn called on Curate.

The Consultation: Uncovering the Space

Every Curate project begins with a conversation, not a plan already decided. When The Galatyn reached out, the conversation led straight to the greenhouse just off the patio, an iron framed room glassed in on every side, with a new fireplace at one end and a dining table finished in that same iron. The client’s request was simple and specific: fill the space with everyday florals that feel fresh and real, substantial enough to make the room feel complete, yet durable enough to withstand a Texas summer under glass. That is where Libby’s process actually starts, with a space fully understood before a single plant is chosen.

What Comes Next: Sourcing an Answer to the Brief

With the space understood, Libby, Curate’s Artistic Director, went to work selecting containers and sourcing the highest UV rated permanent plants available for every pot, the same rigor Curate brings to any project built for Texas sun. From there, Curate presented that direction back to The Galatyn and waited for approval, a step that matters as much as the plants themselves. It is the moment a client gets to see Curate’s expertise firsthand, and see how that expertise adapts specifically to their space rather than arriving as a solution built for anyone.

The Design Phase: UV Rated Everyday Florals, Perfectly Placed

The final selection leaned on plants suited to exactly this kind of everyday, high sun living: succulents, ferns, pothos, and trees, each part of Curate’s everyday florals collection and each chosen for UV rated durability and a natural fit with the room’s style. Libby considered the greenhouse as one encompassing experience rather than a collection of individual pots. Hanging plants softened the space from above, plants set atop the fireplace helped the room feel full rather than sparse, and trees positioned in the corner added height, greenery, and a quiet sense of privacy. At the center of the dining table, a single accent succulent brought one deliberate pop of color, tying the whole composition together.

Installation Day: Delivered with Care

Once the collection was complete, the team went to work. Libby and Jose loaded the collection and brought it to The Galatyn, placing each pot along the greenhouse’s overhead ledge and primping every planting into its most natural shape on site. Every piece traveled securely and carefully packed, so that nothing arrived as anything less than exactly as it left the studio.

The Reveal: A Year Round Oasis

What Curate brought to life became an everyday oasis the residents of the tower can enjoy in every season. The pots were chosen in colors that echo the pool and the sky beyond it, the fireplace lends the whole room a cozy warmth, and pothos cascading overhead add one final touch of intention to a space built to feel effortless.
